Five of a family drown in a tank

Five persons of a family including four children accidentally drowned in a tank on Sunday in Gangadonagonda village in Kurichedu mandal of Prakasam district. According to the villagers, Meenaga Tirupatamma (37) took her two children and two children of her brother-in-law while going to tend the cattle outside the village. When they took the cattle for water to the tank, they fell in to the tank accidentally and drowned. As there were no eye witnesses, it was surmised that they could have drowned while trying to save each other.

Shepherds who found the chappal on the tank bund and cattle grazing in the nearby fields, alerted the villagers. When the villagers searched the tank, they found the dead bodies in the afternoon. The dead are identified as Meenaga Tirupatamma (37), Adilakshmi (13), Narendra (10), Siva (2) and Bhavani (11).

Two washed away in Godavari
Two young men from Vizianagaram were washed away in the flood waters of Godavari in Kovvur in West Godavari district on Sunday when they were taking a holy dip at Gopada Kshetram. They were on their way to Tirupati.
