Special Chief Secretary Chandana Khan on Sunday inaugurated the trial run of a tourist boat between Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam in the wake of full water level in the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir. Chandana Khan who holds the portfolio of Tourism Ministry told newsmen here the tourists would enjoy the trip on the River Krishna which would formally commence from Tuesday between the two great reservoirs in the State.

Chandana Khan who holds the portfolio of Tourism Ministry told newsmen here the tourists would enjoy the trip on the River Krishna which would formally commence from Tuesday between the two great reservoirs in the State.

She said that there would be three trips – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – in a week. “There will be special packages from Hyderabad,” she added.

The Tourism department is purchasing another boat at a cost of Rs. 1.6 crore and that would be pressed into service in a month, she said. “About 300 persons could travel in that boat,” she added.

The present boat could accommodate only hundred persons, she said. Chandana Khan said that more launch services would be introduced at Bhadrachalam and Papikondalu for the tourists.
