At last the Srikalahasti temple administration started the ritual of erecting the new flag post inside the temple on Tuesday, with the precise time of the auspicious event set for 11-26 am on Wednesday.

The temple staff and engineers, with the help of a crane, brought the 3.60-tonne flag post to the spot where it would be erected. Since the entire process of moving the flag post inside the temple went on smoothly, the temple Executive Officer A Sriramachandra Murthy appreciated the tremendous efforts put in by the staff and technical engineers.
Rami Reddy, executive engineer, Srikalahasti temple, later told The Hans India that the flag post was brought from Bhadrachalam forest area last year and had been kept at Pasu Matham. The 63-feet flag post would be erected in place of the old, worn-out one that was removed a week ago.
The new teakwood flag post, which would go to a depth of six feet, measures 18X18 square inch at the bottom, with copper plate covering up to a height of six feet from the base, he said. The copper covering is intended to protect the flag post from rust formation.
The weight of the new flag post is about 3.60 tonnes, the EE said.
