The Hyderabad-Vijayawada and the Vijayawada- Visakhapatnam highways had borne the brunt of the rain ravage.
More than 15 trains were either cancelled, rescheduled or diverted on Saturday. The State Road Transport Corporation could not operate 543 buses across the State as certain routes were cut off due to floods.
“Different stretches of the Hyderabad –Vijayawada National Highway were closed on account of floods for more than 12 hours from 8 pm on Friday. The movement of vehicular traffic was restored only on Saturday morning.
The road was cut off badly at Kattangur in Nalgonda. “We had to cancel a majority of buses on this route. We operated some buses from Vijayawada to Hyderabad via Suryapet, Jangaon and Bhongir. Buses from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and Guntur were diverted via Nalgonda town and Miryalguda,” said APSRTC Executive Director (Operations) GV Ramana Rao.
