The special court for CBI cases on Monday granted bail to former Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana in the disproportionate assets case involving YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The judge directed him not to leave Hyderabad without the permission of the court and also asked him not to discuss the case details with others or influence the witnesses of the case.
The court asked Mopidevi to submit a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh and two sureties of like sum towards execution of the bail. He is expected to come out of the Chanchalguda jail after the completion of bail formalities.
The court had earlier granted 45-day interim bail to the former Minister on health grounds. He, however, surrendered before the court on October 25. He subsequently moved a bail petition. The CBI arrested Mopidevi on May 24, 2012, when he was the Minister for Excise. He resigned the following day. The court released on bail Jagan, Vijay Sai Reddy, Nimmagadda Prasad and bureaucrat K V Brahmananda Reddy in the case.
