Cong Going by Constitutional Guidelines on Telangana: Chacko, Bifurcation of Andhra Praedsh. The Congress on Monday asserted that the bifurcation of Andhra Praedsh was being done in accordance with the Constitutional guidelines

Dismisses CM’s letter to Prez and PM as inconsequential.

The Congress on Monday asserted that the bifurcation of Andhra Praedsh was being done in accordance with the Constitutional guidelines. Rejecting the charges that the Constitutional guidelines are being ignored, the Congress insisted that when the Centre and the state governments are acting in tandem, there can be no violation.

AICC spokesman P C Chacko admitted to differences of opinion on Telangana between Telangana and the Seemandhra regions. Still, the Congress is moving in the direction of resolving the issue that has been nagging for over 60 years. It is creditable that the party is trying to bring to a conclusion an old issue that has been troubling the state.

Chacko was dismissive of the letter of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as something routine and not of consequence. It is normal for the State Chief Minister to convey his views to the President and Prime Minister.

At the sametime, Chacko claimed, no one could be more authentic than Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on what constitutes the Constitutional guidelines. Care is being taken to adhere to the laid down process in the Constitution, he added.
