Kishan Reddy flays govt for its failure to help farmers

Lambasting the State Government for its failure in correctly assessing the crop loss during the latest natural calamity of downpour throughout the state, BJP State president Kishan Reddy said here on Monday that the State Government had been projecting wrong statistics.

He visited the flood-affected fields in Malal mandal in the district and talked to the farmers who suffered heavy loss due to rain.

Later talking to newsmen, the senior BJP leader said that the crops in 24 lakh acres were damaged in the state and the farmers were in deep distress.

The BJP said that the Government was in limbo that it could not start the assessment of the loss and details of the crop loss was not yet collected.

The crops including paddy, maize, cotton, soyabean and vegetables completely damaged due to the heavy rain, he said and added that cattle and poultry were affected, poor people’s houses collapsed, roads were damaged. Expressing concern over the rain water entering in the houses in urban areas, he said that the people were still staying in relief camps in towns and cities.

There was hardly any coordination between the officials, ministers and the chief minister, he remarked.

The BJP leader ridiculed the chief minister for making frequently trips to Delhi to secure his post.

Ruling the truck with any party in the forthcoming General Elections in 2014, the BJP leader said that nobody knew which party would join hands with which party in the State.

BJP State president demanded Rs. 15,000 compensation for paddy, Rs. 20,000 for cotton, Rs. 10,000 for maize, Rs. 15,000 for soya bean should be extended to the farmers.

BJP District president Anjan Kumar Goud, leaders Baddam Bal Reddy. Baleswar Gupta, Nagaram Narsimhulu, Bhadreswar and others were present.
