Expressing shock over the ghastly mishap, Chiranjeevi said that bodies of the victims would be handed over to the relatives after conducting necessary tests.

He expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased. State Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana said that though the capacity of the bus was only 43, there were 49 passengers in the bus at the time of accident. He said that 45 persons died in the mishap. According to him, four bodies were handed over to the relatives and the rest of the bodies were yet to be identified. “After conducting DNA tests the rest of the bodies would be handed over to the relatives,” he added. He appealed to the relatives of the victims to undergo blood tests to identify the bodies.

The payment of ex gratia to the victims would be finalized after consulting with the chief minister, he added. The bus belonging to Bangalore and its permit was valid till 2016. The bus has also a valid insurance till 2014, he added. Investigation would reveal the condition of the bus and the bus driver and cleaner were taken into custody, the minister said. Minister Jana Reddy expressing condolences to the kin of the deceased, said that the injured would be provided with proper treatment. Minister for Information and Public Relations DK Aruna, who rushed to the place of mishap within an hour, supervised the relief programme. Addressing the media persons, she said that it was an unfortunate incident. She said that the injured were shifted to Hyderabad hospital for treatment.

DIG Navinchand said that many relatives who reached the spot could not identify the bodies. He appealed to the relatives to come to the Forensic Lab at Nampally on Thursday to conduct DNA tests for identifying the bodies. District Collector Girijashankar, SP D Nagendra Kumar supervised the relief programme. MLAs Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Yennam Srinivas Reddy, Dayakar Reddy and others also were present.
