Cyberabad Police on Wednesday arrested a custodian of Scientific Security Management Services for looting money from HDFC ATMs in KPHB Colony. A sum of Rs 85 lakh was recovered from his possession.
The accused, G Chandrashekhar Reddy alias Chandu, was detained in Anantapur for his role in stealing the amount from ATMs on October 24.
Reddy, who hails from Chinna Obinenipally village in Besthavaripeta mandal, in Prakasam district, has been staying at Venkateshwara Nagar Colony in Jagathgirigutta.
On interrogation, he confessed to have siphoned off the amount after accessing 12 machines in KPHB Colony and two in Balanagar, on the pretext of repairing them. Manager of the bank lodged a complaint when the HDFC customers complained of unavailability of cash in the machines.
He was nabbed at Molkathalla village in Anantapur district while taking shelter in a house.
