The Union Minister, who has been flexing his muscle after the CWC decision to bifurcate the state, decided to lead a team of Telangana Ministers and leaders to New Delhi and argue before the GoM on various contentious issues that would arise after the bifurcation of the state and also to demand that the entire GHMC area should not be declared as the joint capital region after carving of separate Telangana State.
Reddy who attended the meeting of T Congress Ministers and leaders at the house of Minister for Panchayat Raj K Jana Reddy told media that they had no objection for Hyderabad being the joint capital of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh but would oppose any move to extend the jurisdiction to the entire GHMC area. Asked to comment on the demand for merger of Bhadrachalam with East Godavari district, the Union Minister said that they have clear opinion on the issue and their stand would not be differ from other parties in Telangana. All such issues, he said, would be discussed by the T leaders with the GoM on November 14.
He said the Monday’s meeting also discussed the issues like sharing of water. This meeting gained importance in the backdrop of the demonstration held in New Delhi by Visalandhra Mahasabha on Sunday and the meeting the Union Ministers from Seemandhra region had with the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Monday.
Among those who participated in the meeting were Deputy Chief Minister C Damodara Rajanarsimha, Ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, D K Aruna, Basavaraju Saraiah, Sunita Lakshma Reddy, Chief Whip G Venkataramana Reddy, MPs Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Palvai Govardhan Reddy, former PCC president and MLC, D Srinivas, K Yadava Reddy and others.
