A devotee from Tamil Nadu was robbed of Rs 59,000 while on his way in the queue lines for the darshan of the presiding deity on Monday. The devotee who identified himself as Selvan from Sivakashi informed TTD Vigilance Officials that he had joined Rs 300 darshan line along with his family members and found the cash missing only after entering the precincts of the main temple complex.
The vigilance staff checked all the devotees and found out Rs 59,000 with a devotee, Govindan from Bengaluru. He failed to give details of the amount and tried to escape. Vigilance officials nabbed him and recovered the cash and handed over Govindan to Tirumala Crime Police.
