The BJP state general secretary NVSS Prabhakar on Tuesday alleged that the urban poor were being left high and dry in the implementation of the housing programme. Launching a 48-hour-long deeskha on the issue here at Ramanthapur, he said the government’s Rachabanda programme was of little use for them as the promises made by the officials with regard to housing were seldom fulfilled. At times the applicants were being duped financially, he alleged.
Prabhakar demanded that the State government immediately allot houses to weaker sections residing in urban pockets under the scheme during the ongoing Rachchabanda programme.
Addressing the gathering, he claimed that the officials of the programme were receiving thousands of applications from the poor people, but house sites were not being allocated to the beneficiaries. “The Congress government is playing with the lives of the poor in sanctioning of houses. Without fulfilling its promises made in the last two programmes, how can the government organise the 3rd phase of the Rachabanda?” he questioned
