New Delhi: YSRCP supremo Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Sunday evening called on BJP president Rajnath Singh to seek his support in opposing the Telangana Bill in Parliament. In his over one-hour-long meeting with Rajnath Singh, he urged that Andhra Pradesh should be kept united.
Jaganmohan Reddy is understood to have sought the support of the BJP to fight the Congress against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. The YSRCP is banking on the BJP support for stalling or delaying the Telangana Bill in parliament. The YSRCP leader has been in the capital meeting national political leaders to enlist their support for Samaikyandhra cause. On Saturday, he had met CPI General Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy and CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat and politburo member Sitaram Yechury and pleaded with them to oppose the Telangana Bill in the upcoming winter session of parliament. The CPI leader clearly told him that his party was for the creation of Telangana and there was no compromise on his party stand. However, Karat agreed with the stand taken by the YSRCP.
Jaganmohan Reddy was accompanied by Mekapati Rajmohan Reddy, M V Mysura Reddy, Balasouri, Gattu Ramachander Rao, Konathala Ramakrishna. Jaganmohan Reddy is now seeking the court permission to visit other states.
He is keen to meet West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and BJD leader Naveen Patnaik to canvass support in the fight against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
