Sonia down down adjourns AP Assembly

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for 10 minutes on Thursday amid uproar by the Opposition parties that disrupted the House proceedings.

When it was the turn of Puttaparthi TDP MLA Palle Raghunatha Reddy to express his opinion on the Telangana Bill, he blamed Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the division.

Soon after Palle Raghunatha Reddy made this statement, other TDP members raised slogans of 'Sonia down, Sonia down' which led to a debate and counter arguments from Congress members.

The Speaker repeatedly appealed to the members to allow debate on the Telangana bill. Amidst the slogan-shouting, the Deputy Speaker adjourned it for ten minutes. The TDP MLA also said that development was possible only if the Andhra Pradesh remained united. Divison would widen the gap between brothers, he added.

Hyderabad is not anybody's property, it belongs to everyone, the MLA said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy appealed to the TDP and Congress members to let the House run peacefully and not turn debate into provocative speeches.
