234-page book with amendments to be tabled today

Hyderabad: A total of 9,024 amendments were proposed to all the clauses of the AP State Reorganisation Bill-2013 by the 269 members of the AP Legislative Assembly.

The proposals include both amendments and rejections on the 108 clauses and 13 schedules of the draft T Bill. AP Legislature Secretariat would table a 234-page book with the details of amendments and rejections on the Bill in the House on Friday.

However, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana and leader of opposition N Chandrababu Naidu proposed no amendments to the Bill.

So is the case with nominated MLA Christine Lazarus and independent MLA Srisailam Goud.

Interestingly, YSRCP legislators proposed ‘deletion’ of all the clauses and 13 schedules.

On the other hand, the TRS MLAs also sought several changes in the draft Bill but termed them as ‘views or suggestions’. The Telangana MLAs predominantly opposed the clause 8 that seeks to vest decisive powers with the ‘common Governor’ and clause 5 (1) that makes Hyderabad as the ‘common capital’ for a period not exceeding five years.

Seemandhra TDP MLAs proposed 4,928 amendments to AP State Reorganisation Bill. As many as 44 MLAs belonging to the TDP gave separate notices individually and each legislator suggested 108 amendments in four schedules.

Telangana TDP legislators also made some suggestions on the Bill. They include retaining of Hyderabad as common capital for not more than five years.

Interestingly, CPI made several suggestions for the benefit of residuary State of Andhra Pradesh by proposing several national institutes.
