It is known fact that in a decision taken overnight, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy stripped D. Sridhar Babu of the Legislative Affairs portfolio and allocated it to his loyalist Sailajanath.
Sailajanath's post assumes importance as he has a major role to play when Telangana bill comes up for debate in the AP Assembly. Sailajanath would assist the Speaker in running the House and conducting the debate. His involvement in the debate gets much importance.
It is understood that the CM deliberately allocated the portfolio to S. Sailajanth, who is opposing the formation of a separate Telangana state tooth and nail.
But going by the minister's hour-long speech in the Assembly today, it indicates that the change of portfolio is not only to raise his voice for Samaikyandhra but also to expose the TRS and show public that KCR's party has been fighting for Telangana only for electoral advantage. In a veiled reference to KCR, Sailajanath alleged that KCR was luring Telangana people with the false promise of offering jobs. "Government jobs cannot be given to anybody and everybody as they are bound by rules. Certain protocols must be followed," he added.
He also reminded people that Telangana agitation began for the only reason that one of the T leaders failed to get ministerial post. Raising these issues, Sailajanath pointed fingers at TRS using Telangana sentiment for political mileage.
