The scene at Anuhya's house could tear anyone's heart as her mother, a heart patient was inconsolable. The mother was seen repeatedly pleading people to show her daughter's face one last time. However, her wish could not be fulfilled as Anuhya died 11 days ago and her body was in decomposed state.
Tears rolled down the face of people who had come to pay their last respects as they witnessed this emotional scene.
The 23-year-old techie was taken to the burial ground in procession and her last rites were performed according to the Christian customs.
Not only localites from Machilipatnam, but also people from neighbouring districts thronged the place to pay their tributes. Holding placards they demanded justice and stern action against the culprits.
Meanhwile, Machilipatnam observed a bandh protesting against the murder of Anuhya. Several schools and business establishments voluntarily shut down to express their solidarity.
It may be recalled here that Mumbai police found the burnt body of Anuhya eleven days after she went missing even as a murder case has been registered. The body was identified by her father S. Prasad, a retired professor of Andhra Pradesh University.

Preliminary investigations established that Anuhya went missing after reaching Mumbai, police said.
