Harikrishna slams 'foolish' TDP leaders over Telangana at NTR ghat. Nandamuri Harikirshna said politicians were dividing the state for selfish gains. He also said there were some foolish people in his own party
"Some dogs couldn't stop barking. What they don't know is I was born with the blood of NT Rama Rao. The Telugu Desam came into form as a result of Rama Rao's anger. The party took shape because of people's emotions."
Former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao's son and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu's estranged brother-in-law and actor Nandamuri Harikrishna lambasted his own party leaders over the division of Andhra Pradesh.
After paying floral tributes to his father on the occasion of his 18th death anniversary at the NTR ghat in Hyderabad, Harikrishna created quite a flutter with his controversial statements on the bifurcation.

In a serious mood, the actor-turned-politician said "Why is our land in such pathetic state and our people miserable? If that noble person (NTR) was alive, we wouldn't be in such worse state. Nobody is bothered about the self-respect of Telugu people or their oneness. There are some politicians, and there are some foolish people in our own party. When I resigned to oppose Telangana state, some people said it was an emotional and hasty decision taken in anger. But there's something that they don't understand."
He also explained the reason behind his resignation. Harikrishna said: "Some dogs couldn't stop barking. What they don't know is I was born with the blood of NT Rama Rao. The Telugu Desam came into form as a result of Rama Rao's anger. The party took shape because of people's emotions. So anger is in my genes, comes from my father, emotion is for the sake of my own state people. So my reaction was a natural one."
He concluded his bitter speech asking the 'fools' in his party to understand. He also said that if the state was to flourish again it was only possible if NTR came back to life.
When these statements were put before Telangana TDP leader Erraballi Dayakar Rao, he said that Harikrishna also had once given a statement in favour of Telangana and changed later.
"Telangana would have been a reality much before if NTR was alive. We respect him as NTRs' son. Harikrishna clearly said that if NTR was alive that day, Telangana would have been formed," said Erraballi.
TDP blood flows in my body : NTR
Family members of the late NT Rama Rao and several party leaders paid their homage to the TDP founder president at his samadhi in NTR Ghat on the occasion of his 18th death anniversory.
Speaking to the media, Young tiger Jr. NTR once again reiterated that the blood of TDP is flowing in his body. "It is my responsibility to campaign for the TDP. Acting is my profession," he said while making it clear that he will not contest the upcoming elections.
NTR’s widow Lakshmi Parvati also visited the memorial to pay tributes.
