The girl identified as Priyadarsini, a resident of ST colony was pursuing her degree. Priyadarshini took the extreme step last night at her house by consuming poisonous substances, police said, adding that she died on the spot.
Dejected over her love not being accepted by her parents, a girl committed suicide in Tadimarri of Ananthapuram district, police said on Friday. The girl identified as Priyadarsini, a resident of ST colony was pursuing her degree. Priyadarshini took the extreme step last night at her house by consuming poisonous substances, police said, adding that she died on the spot.
Relatives of the victims allege that she committed suicide unable to bear the pressure from her parents to cut all relations with her lover.
The story goes thus: Ravi, a relative of the girl was in love with her which was also reciprocated from her side. Ravi's friend Harish was mediating in their love affair, it is learnt. When the girl's parents heard of their love affair, they opposed it much to the displeasure of the couple. Fearing that her love will never be accepted, the girl ended her life, it is speculated.
Soon as news of the girl's death reached Ravi, he fled to Tirupati and attempted suicide. Meanwhile, his friend Harishkumar too made a suicide bid in Ananthapur. Both were shifted to hospitals separately. Ravi's condition is said to be out of danger. Latest reports suggested that Harish breathed his last a few hours ago. The body of Priyadarshini has been sent for post-mortem at Tadimarri hospital, said a police official.
