Ananthapuram girl commits suicide after being harassed for marriage. A harassed girl committed suicide in Tadimarri of Ananthapuram district, police said on Friday. The girl identified as Priyadarsini, was pursuing her degree, took the extreme step last night at her house by consuming poisonous substances, police said, adding that she died on the spot.

Relatives of the victims allege that she committed suicide unable to bear the pressure to accept proposals made by her relative Ravikumar.
Ravi along with his friend Harish threatened her with dire consequences if she failed to accept the proposal, it is learnt.
Soon as news of the girl's death reached Ravi, he fled to Tirupati and attempted suicide.
Meanwhile, his friend Harish too made a suicide bid in Ananthapur out of fear. Both were shifted to hospitals separately and their condition is said to be out of danger. The body of Priyadarshini has been sent for post-mortem at Tadimarri hospital, said a police official.
