New Delhi: TRS leader K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday called on President Pranab Mukherjee to send the Telangana Bill to Parliament to be passed in this very session. Earlier in the day, Chandrashekhar Rao also called on BJP president Rajnath Singh to seek his party support for the passage of Telangana Bill. After meeting President Pranab Mukherjee, Chandrashekhar Rao said he had urged the President to advise the Government to implement the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Chandrashekhar Rao expressed the hope and confidence that Telangana will become a reality soon. During his meeting with BJP president Rajnath Singh, TRS leader Chandrashekhar Rao said the Telangana issue has been pending for long. Since the party was committed to the creation of BJP, it should now support the Bill. Rajnath Singh is understood to have told Chandrashekhar Rao that his party was committed to the creation of Telangana, but it cannot be at the expense of ensuring justice to the people of Seemandhra. According to sources, Rajnath Singh told Chandrashekhar Rao that the Congress-led UPA Government has not yet brought the Telangana Bill to Parliament. He sought to blame the Congress for dragging its feet on Telangana.

Rajnath Singh is understood to have assured Chandrashekhar Rao that even if the Congress-led UPA Government fails to honour its commitment on Telangana, the BJP Government will certainly implement it by September 17, Telangana Day, when it comes to power at the Centre in the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP president focused his attack on the Congress and wanted to expose the ruling party for dragging its feet over the issue.
