Interestingly, a Congress MLA from Andhra Pradesh is the first leader to use this right to reject option. Daggubati Venkateswara Rao chose to not vote for any candidate in the Rajya Sabha polls. This became a topic of discussion in the political circles.

When asked about the reasons for not supporting any candidate, he said AP bifurcation process has sidelined Seemandhra regions. He demanded the reasons behind the division. He maintained that the Centre should set up a second states reorganization commission (SRC) to look into the Telangana demand.

Daggubati also said that he informed of this decision to CM Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana, prior to voting.

Nevertheless, the Congress MLA managed to draw attention with his unique way of protest in support of Samaikyandhra. Besides, Daggubati could reject as he has managed to escape the Congress whip till now.

While Daggubati created ripples with his unique protest, Mangalagiri MLA Kamala created another buzz. She used her chance to vote but dropped an empty paper inside the ballot box! (TDP gets one unexpected vote)
