YSRCP strength in Srikakulam set to grow
The Congress Party suffered another jolt when Congress MLA Tynala Vijaya Kumar representing Visakhapatnam North, quit the party to join the YSR Congress party.
Announcing his resignation from the Congress, Vijaya Kumar said he will join the YSRC in the presence of the party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Srikakulam on Sunday.
Alleging that the Congress party had insulted the Samaikyandhra movement, the MLA said that he had decided to join the YSRCP which is fighting for the Samikyandhra cause.
"I should have quit Congress on July 30 itself, the day CWC announced its decision. But as a responsible leader I had to stand by the public, so I had to stick on this long," he reasoned.
It was earlier reported that Vijaya Kumar held a meeting with his supporters and party workers of his constituency on Thursday evening to elicit their views on his plan to shift his loyalties. It is learnt that a majority of his supporters suggested that he join the YSRCP.
It is already known that former minister and senior Congress leader Dharmana Prasada Rao who hails from Srkakulam announced that he will join the YSRCP on February 9 along with his 9 lakh followers.
With Vijaya Kumar too joining, YSRCP will strength its base in the district.
