Hyderabad: Files in the Chief Minister’s Office are moving at a jet speed. As Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is busy working out strategies for his next political move, his secretaries have tasked themselves with the responsibility of file clearance on a fast track mode.

Over 1,000 files, which are very important in nature, were cleared in the past two days.

A majority of the files pertaining to irrigation, revenue, panchayatraj, rural development, medical and health, education, roads & building department have been signed by the Chief Minister.

The important files cleared by Kiran Reddy included the one related to eight megawatt hydro power project on Somasila reservoir. The project is being promoted by Balaji Energy Private Limited (BEPL) owned by Congress MP M Srinivas Reddy at a cost of more than Rs 100 crore.

Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy had reportedly spent three hours in CM’s Camp Office to get Chief Minister’s nod for some pending files. According to sources, the files pending from two to three years in revenue department were cleared. There were files related to land allotments to various firms and individuals.

Kiran Reddy is handling three major portfolios additionally -- Home Affairs, Roads & Buildings, Health & Family Welfare-- after the resignation of P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao, and the dismissal of DL Ravindra Reddy. Reddy was already handling two other key portfolios, Commercial Taxes and Energy, right from the day he was sworn in. His tight work schedule gives him very little time to spare for individual officials.

A senior IAS officer, speaking to this correspondent on condition of anonymity, said that he was not able to meet Reddy for the past few days to take an important decision pertaining to his department. Some of the officials were being called to the camp office to get their sign of approval on important files.

The Chief Minister has cleared another file raising the capacity of the Relampadu Balancing Reservoir in Mahabubnagar district from 2.30 tmcft to 4 tmcft.

The project was estimated to cost Rs 193 crore and the contract was entrusted to Sri Venkateswara Engineering Company, Nellore.
