Lagadapati is Seemandhra's Man of the Match. Thanks to the expelled Congress MP, pepper spray made its debut in the Parliament. Ever since his behaviour in Parliament has become the talk of the town, criticisms have been pouring in from all quarters condemning his act.
No, we don't mean to promote his acts here. We are trying to analyse the infamous episode in Parliament yesterday.
Thanks to the expelled Congress MP, pepper spray made its debut in the Indian Parliament. Ever since his behaviour in Parliament became talk of the town, criticisms have been pouring in from all quarters condemning his act. A TDP MP bringing knife was another extreme that requires equal admonition. Back to Lagadapati - on the newshour with Arnab Goswami, the Congress MP said he was not proud of what he did but justified the act saying it was done in self-defence. This elicited an angry reaction from the other side (read Arnab in his news studio), with him expressing anger over the entire episode. A few days ago: Although there are several political leaders, including YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and union minister Chiranjeevi who are opposed to the Centre's decision to divide Andhra Pradesh, it was Lagadapati who had been more vocal about it all along. He had become a spokesperson of sort or can we say voice of Seemandhra slamming his party's decision to divide the state for electoral gains. Over the last few days, Lagadapati was seen on every national TV channel giving his views on the Telangana issue. The national media had turned him into a hero of prime time news where he would be seen hitting out at the Congress top brass. The TV anchors were a delighted lot for they had found their 'man' who could not only offer views on the contentious issue, but also up their Prime Time TRPs. Lagadapati is still the most popular and favourite subject matter expert for TV channels even today. However, the tables have turned now. Anchors are no longer doing the sweet talking, they are lashing out at the Congress MP for what they term as his misbehaviour in the House of Shame. Meanwhile, Seemandhra people are hailing Lagadapati as the modern day Bhagat Singh! Flexis, posters, Ads featuring the photos of both Bhagat Singh and Lagadapati side by side are being passed around for promotion. The bottom line is when the history of Telangana is written, Lagadapati will be the key player. And Seemandhra will be proud of the fact that Telugu kids will read about the Seemandhra MP in their school textbooks. But, this is how modern day history is created you see!
