New Delhi: Stage is set for the massive protest being planned at Ramlila Grounds here on Monday and Tuesday. Union Ministers and MPs from Seemandhra will participate in meeting.

APNGOs president Ashok Babu said that the protests would be peaceful. While the Telangana activists were burning effigies and provoking the Seemandhra people, their protest would not involve even burning effigies.

On the eve of the protests, the protagonists of united Andhra Pradesh stepped up their activities in the capital. There was a war-like scene at the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan, with activists from Telangana and Seemandhra contributing to tensions there. The T activists burnt the effigies of Lagadapati Rajagoal, which provoked the Seemandhra activists.

The Samaikhya Andhra Students JAC staged a protest at the AICC headquarters in the Capital on Sunday. The Students JAC activists held placards, demanding that the Telangana Bill should be taken back.

They raised slogans of “UPA down, down” to register their protest against the Congress, which is pressing ahead with the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

The Union Ministers and Congress MPs from the Seemandhra region on Sunday night met at the residence of Textiles Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao to plan their strategy in Parliament.

Union Minister of State for Finance J D Seelam reiterated the formula of Kavuri and appealed to the Centre to prepare the ground for an amicable settlement. Kavuri had on demanded that Hyderabad be made a UT for 10 years, creation of Rayala Telangana State by including Anantapur and Kurnool districts and merger of Bhadrachalam division with Seemandhra.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy warned the Seemandhra activists against causing law and order problems in the capital.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police spoke to the police officials from the districts where the APNGOs had left for Delhi. They sought the details of the people who left for Delhi and their likely action plan. They also wanted to know where these people would be staying so that they can keep vigil on their movements. The police also sought inputs from the state intelligence authorities on what the APNGOs propose to do during the two day rallies.

The police also tightened the security in and around Rashtrapati Bhavan to avoid any untoward incidents and are drawing up plans to restrict the APNGOs to Ramaleela maidan.
