Visakhapatnam: The former Joint Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation, V V Lakshminarayana (VVL), is tipped to head the State unit of the Aam Aadmi Party.

VVL, who has been posted as Pune Police Commissioner recently after staying without a posting for quite some time, is not likely to assume the new charge, said sources.

Though only 47 and with a lot of service left, VVL is likely to quit the Indian Police Service on Monday and take over the reins of AAP in the State next week.

VVL has earned a good name for his adept handling of Satyam scam and the disproportionate assets case of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and also other cases.

When he was left without any posting , he was busy attending various functions, mostly educational, in the State on invitation and interacted with a large number of youngsters on several issues including corruption in the society.

Meanwhile, senior AAP leader Prashant Bhushan, who is in Hyderabad, held a meeting with the leaders of AAP, and reportedly discussed with them the prospects of the party in the State. It is said that he elicited opinions on admitting VVL and Siasat Managing Editor Zaheeruddin Ali Khan into the party and how they would improve the prospects of the party.
