New Delhi: Unfazed by the contradiction by TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao, the AICC General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, Digvijay Singh, reiterated on Wednesday that the TRS merger with the Congress was very much on the cards.

Digvijay Singh said, “We are happy that KCR met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and has indicated merger of TRS with Congress. The details are being worked out.” In fact, Sonia Gandhi had even told him that Digvijay Singh would be in touch with him to discuss the issue.

Interacting with media persons after a meeting with Seemandhra Congress leaders, he said Sonia Gandhi and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi would be addressing rallies in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh regions.

Digvijay Singh said Vatti Vasanta Kumar had brought to his notice the need for adequate gas allocation for Seemandhra from KG Gas Basin. He promised to take up the matter with the Congress-led UPA Government.

The Congress leader said the Presidential Assent to the Telangana Bill and the Appointed Day of Telangana and residuary State of Andhra Pradesh are awaited. “We would like to see the two States start functioning as early as possible,” he said.
