Hyderabad: Sulking Kodela May Get Speaker PostHyderabad: Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, who is sulking for not being inducted into the 19-member Council of Ministers of Nara Chandrababu Naidu, is apparently offered the Assembly Speaker post, it is reliably learnt. Naidu, who was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of residuary State on Sunday, along with 19 others, left aside several of his senior party colleagues, including Kodela, Gorantla Butchaiah Choudhary and Kala Venkatrao, to name a few. As soon as he learnt of exclusion in the list, Choudhary drove back to his native Rajahmundry. But, Kodela and Venkatrao, expressed their displeasure over the ‘ham-handed’ treatment meted out to them.

Although, sources close to Naidu hint at another extension in the near future, yet it may not be possible for him to accommodate members belonging to his ‘Kamma’ community. He had already inducted as many as four members – Prathipati Pulla Rao (Chilakaluripet), Devineni Uma Maheshwar Rao (Mylavaram), P Sunitha (Rapthadu) – belonging to his community, besides himself. “In fact, Naidu could strike a balance by accommodating all major community members in his 19-member Cabinet,” a senior TDP leader claimed on condition of anonymity when asked why seniors like Kodela and Butchaiah Choudhary were ignored. Though, the TDP members, especially in Guntur and East Godavari, are expressing their dissent and holding secret parleys, sources close to Naidu claim that “everyone will fall in line very soon.” It is learnt that Naidu may hold one-to-one meetings with those seniors who are sulking. Reliable sources also claim that if Kodela is convinced to accept the Speaker’s post, then Butchaiah Chodhary may be made the State Planning Board vice-chairman, the post he had held during N T Rama Rao’s tenure.
