After bifurcation of state , it is now time to weed out Andhra culture from Telangana syllabus. Dialect, literature and also poets and writers of Andhra will be replaced with that of Telangana in the school, college text books from this academic year.

After having revised the undergraduate syllabus for history, the Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) is now engaged in the task to modify the common course syllabus.

N. Gopi, former vice-chancellor of the Telugu University heads a committee to make changes in the courses for undergraduate students for whom Telugu is the
second language as also for B.A. Telugu literature students.

For the former, Telangana’s literature will replace the Andhra literature that is currently being taught. For final-year B.A. Telugu students, a paper titled Andhra Sahitya Charitra (the history of Andhra literature) will be replaced with Telangana Sahitya Charitra.

“We have been asked to revise the course and submit it by April end. The syllabus will be taught to students from the 2015-16 academic year itself,” said TSCHE vice-chariman Mallesh Sankasala.

He said the Andhra ‘dialect’, presently used in Telugu textbooks for undergraduate students, will be replaced by that of Telangana. “Also, writers and poets like Kaloji and Dasaradhi will be featured in place of ones like Tirupathi Venkatakavulu of Andhra,” Prof. Sankasala added.
