Indian mountaineer and fastest seven summiteer in the world, Malli Mastan Babu, who was missing since March 24 while on an expedition to the Andes Mountains in Argentina, has been found dead by authorities in South America, said reports on Saturday. The Ministry of External Affairs of India was in touch with the governments in South America over the search for Malli Mastan Babu.

"Challenge is what enthralls me and free spirit is what I exhibit. Never Give Up, Never Give In! is a phrase that works miracles for me. Courage and Conviction has been a way of expression of my self," said the website of Babu.

An M. Tech from IIT Kharagpur, he also had a PGDM from IIM Calcutta.

He first worked as a senior Software Engineer for 3 years from 1998 - 2001.

His world records include:

Fastest 7 Summiteer in the world (172 days, Jan 19 - July 10, 2006)
Only person in the world to do 7 summits on seven days of the week and one in each calendar month
Only South Asian to accomplish 7 Summits

1st Indian and only Indian to accomplish 7 Summits
1st Indian to summit Mt. Vinson Massif, the tallest peak of Antarctica
1st Indian to summit Mt. Carstensz Pyramid, the tallest peak of Oceania
1st and only person from Andhra Pradesh to summit Mt. Everest
# Malli trekked extensively in Indian and Nepal Himalayas. He undertook "Grand circuit"trek of Torres Del Paine National Park in Chile.

In Himalayan experience was traversing the Everest Base Camp covering Gokyo Lakes, Chukung and Everest Base camp . He had trekked from Gorak shep to Namchee bazar (42 km, Everest marathon route) in one day Accomplished Kalapatar(18,481ft) and Everest base(17,600 ft) camp on the same day. Had trekked from Chukung to Gorak shep via kongma la pass on the same day!

He was also the founder of IIM Calcutta Adventure Club, 2003

He was awarded Dr. B.C. Roy Award for best outstanding contribution to campus in recognition for the initiation of IIM C Adventure Club

His hobbies included freelance photography, writing, reading, skating, Table Tennis (Ambidextrous), skipping, solving Rubik's cube, Yoga, meditation, pranayama
