Justice SV Bhatt of the High Court at Hyderabad on Monday voiced displeasure in the manner in which the state government (Andhra Pradesh) acquired land in the YSR Kadapa district. The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by Konireddy Venkata Subba Reddy and 22 others. The petitioners complained that the government had forcefully acquired their land in Yerraguntla village in the district.

The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by Konireddy Venkata Subba Reddy and 22 others. The petitioners complained that the government had forcefully acquired their land in Yerraguntla village in the district.

The judge summoned S Chinna Ramudu, Revenue Divisional Officer and directed him to explain his actions. “Even during the British era the lands of the people were not taken in blatant manner as is being done at present”, the judge lamented. Justice Bhatt directed the officials to submit all the necessary documents and ordered for the presence of the RDO and adjourned the matter to May 1.
