Hyderabad: The persisting well marked low pressure area over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh¬-south Odisha coast and the associated upper air cyclonic circulation may turn into a depression during the next 24 hours.


Under its influence heavy to very heavy rainfall will occur at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East & West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts during the next three days. The Met Office said the southwest monsoon advanced into the remaining parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, thus covering the entire State on Friday.


The monsoon has been active in coastal AP. The Met Office forecast heavy rainfall in Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours. Rain or thundershowers will occur at most places in Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places in Rayalaseema on June 20.


Isolated rain or thundershowers may occur in Telangana and Rayalaseema during the next three days. During the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Friday the monsoon has been vigorous in Telangana. Thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in coastal AP and Telangana.


There was heavy rain of 17 cm in Govindaraopet in Warangal district, followed by Khanapur 15 cm, Manthani 13 cm, Dornakal, Narsampet, Gudur 10 cm each and Chennaraopet 9 cm.
