In the wake of the lost lives due to the stampede on the first day of the 12-day Godavari pushkarams at Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday announced ex-gratia of Rs.10 lakh each to the kin of those who were killed in the stampede.

Mr Naidu visited the victims who were injured in the mishap and later addressed the media where he stated that the AP government would pay Rs.10 lakh each as ex-gratia to the families of the deceased. The Chief Minister said that the mishap occurred as lakhs of pilgrims thronged the Pushkar Ghat.


Expressed deep shock over the stampede, Mr Naidu said that he would stay in Rajahmundry till the conclusion of the Pushkarams and also directed the doctors to provide the best treatment to the injured persons.
