It may be recalled that the project was formally launched by the Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu on Friday at Vijayawada. Dubbed as 'CVR Green India' project, it is aimed at greening the entire CRDA area and thereby bring down the temperatures in the region. The seeding programme is being carried out in 17 places in Amaravati region covering 1080 hectares.


In Krishna district the seeding programme covers 374 hectares and in Guntur district 1080 hectares. The CVR Foundation is spending Rs.2.50 lakhs on the seeding operations. The Krishnapatnam Port will also cover other districts as well in phased manner. In Nellore district the Port is raising 1 crore sapplings in its social forestry nursery and already 20 lakh sapplings are ready for distribution.


The CVR Foundation will also undertake similar seeding operations in Machilipatnam Port area. It will also develop the concept of Green Cities in the state. Krishnapatnamk Port Chairman Chinta Visveshwararao, managing director Chinta Sasidhar, chief executive officer Chinta Giridhar and others participated in the unveiling of the project, according to a Krishnapatnam Port press release.
