Vijayawada: The suspense over the choice of Twitter CEO is likely to be cleared after its board meeting to pick up a new boss. And it could well be an Indian head at the top. Among the top contenders is former Cisco Systems CEO Padmasree Warrior.

The social network, which saw its CEO Dick Costolo depart at the end of June, has been without a permanent head since then. In all likelihood, the ensuing board meeting may zero in on Padmasree Warrior, the daughter of Yellepeddi Subrahmanya Gandhi of Vijayawada, according to information available with this correspondent.

She had her schooling in Montessori and completed her Intermediate education in Maris Stella College.Padmasree had left Vijayawada for her higher education in Delhi and later settled in the US. Till recently, she was the CEO of the CISCO and had left the firm as part of its reorganisation.

The Twitter has been searching for a suitable person to head it and promote its brand. The news about Padmasree’s possible appointment as CEO for Twitter has come as welcome move for those who are known to her family in Vijayawada.

“She was a bright student,” recalled a retired lecturer of SRR and CVR Government College, Andavilli Satyanarayana. “Her father, a leading advocate then, was very close to us and Padmasree used to visit me regularly,” he recalled. Padmasree was also the Motorola chief before joining the Cisco. “She proved her talent wherever she worked,” Andavilli said.

Adusumilli Jayaprakash, a family friend of Padmasree’s father, welcomed the Twitter’s move to consider Padmasree as its new CEO. He said the social network’s decision on Padmasree will make city proud. Padmasree was in India in January this year when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barak Obama addressed the world CEOs conference in Delhi.
