Over 1,000 power sector employees hailing from AP relieved by the Telangana Government are heading for a hunger strike in Vijayawada next week.

Around 1,253 employees working in state-run discoms prior to the bifurcation of the state were relieved by the Telangana Government. Since June, the employees are jobless and their request to be placed in the state cadre has not been implemented by the AP Government.

So, in order to get their jobs back, the employees are set to begin a hunger strike. Leaders K Babu Rao, P Janardhana Reddy and N Giridhar stated that they seek justice from AP Government and will begin their relay hunger strike from September 15.

They further alleged that both the governments have turned a blind eye to the employees who have retired and are not settling the retirement dues.
