YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday demanded that Rs. 10 lakhs be paid as compensation to each of the kin of 19 persons who lost their lives in the ghastly road accident at Gandepalli in East Godavari.
Soon after the mishap, the YSRCP chief rushed to Rajahmundry and consoled the bereaved family members.

He accused the AP Government of trying to whitewash the deaths.

Holding the AP Genco and AP Genco contractors responsible for the tragedy, YS Jagan warned them that the YSRCP would a file case and drag them to the court.

"Rs 2 lakhs compensation is not enough. How would those who lost their breadwinners survive with such meagre amount? Chandrababu gave Rs 10 lakh to the Pushkaram stampede victims but announced mere Rs 2 lakhs to the poor labourers. He would announce Rs 5 lakhs if he gets good promotion," YS Jagan assured.

Coming down heavily on the AP Government, he said that none from the Government had cared to meet the bereaved family members so far and they disposed off the bodies in vans afraid of his (Jagan) visit.
