Main opposition leader in AP Assembly and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy left to Rajahmundy to console the victims of a ghastly road accident in East Godavari District on Monday. A lorry carrying ash turned turtle killing at least 18 members and injuring 10 on National Highway-16 near Gandepalli, about 33 km from Rajahmundry. The injured were admitted to Government hospital in Rajahmundry.

The YSRCP chief is expected to meet the injured persons at the hospital and later join the protest of the bereaved family members. The AP Government has announced Rs 2 lakh compensation to the victims.

Demanding a hike in the compensation, the family members of the victims staged a dharna at the hospital. YSRCP leaders say that YS Jagan would raise his voice against the Government and demand more compensation for the victims. Earlier in the day, YS Jagan expressed his deep condolences over the accident and called upon his party leaders to rush to the spot and help the accident victims.
