Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accused AP CM Chandrababu Naidu for being a 'silent spectator', instead of mounting pressure on the Central government on the special status.

The YSRCP chief addressed a student meeting at the PLR Convention Hall which was attended by a large number of students to discuss development of the state and special category status.

Explaining the importance of achieving the special status to AP, YS Jagan said that the state would enjoy excise, customs, corporate tax and income tax concessions if the special status was granted to it.

He called upon the students to question Chandrababu's silence and demand that he give an ultimatum to the Central Government with a threat to pull out his ministers from the Central Cabinet if the Special Category Status was not accorded to the state within a month. "Special status is our right.

The state needs special status as there are many benefits. Thousands of industries have come to Himachal Pradesh as it has been granted special status. There are 11 special category states in the country now. Why cannot they give to AP," he asked. Chandrababu has been evading the special status issue to escape from the cases.
