Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association (APNGO) president P Ashok Babu said the government should focus on improving infrastructure and accommodation in the capital region for the convenience of the employees before shifting the administration from Hyderabad.

He urged the State government to look in to the long-pending demand for regularisation of contract and outsourcing employees in various departments.

Speaking to the media at the NGO Bhavan after the second convention of the women wing held here on Sunday, Ashok Babu said employees were ready to come to Vijayawada if the State government provides necessary infrastructure.

“It will take at least one year to shift the employees as majority of the employees are habituated to work from Hyderabad. The government should provide necessary accommodation for employees.

” The employees leader said they would approach Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu over the regularisation of the contract employees, as most of them were facing severe hardships with meagre salaries. He urged the government to take steps to fill the vacant posts with women to empower them.

Expressing his concern over the delay in special category status to the State, the NGOs leader said that special status itself would not bring the State back on track and implementation of other promises made under AP Reorganisation Act-2014 would help boost the economy of the State.

An all-party delegation led by the Chief Minister should meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi over special category status issue. “As of now, we have no plans to launch agitation over special category status as we have faith in the Chief Minister.

Only if he fails to mount pressure on the Centre over the issue, we will step in,” he said. APNGOs Association women’s wing president P Ratna, West Krishna unit president A Vidyasagar were also present.
