Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the State Cabinet on Saturday decided to change the name of Rajahmundry to Rajamahendravaram.

The Chief Minister had earlier made an announcement in this regard during Godavari Pushakaralu. The government will soon issue a notification and send it to the Central government.

The Cabinet discussed on capital foundation arrangements. Giving details of the Cabinet decisions, the Chief Minister said that it has been decided to allot 852 acres of land at Kota village in Nellore district to APIIC and 9 acres of land to railways for laying railway line to Krishnapatnam port.

He said that notice would be served to GVK industries for handing over and compensation would be paid.Naidu said that Polavaram project would be put under fast track to complete the main dam by 2018.

He said that polavaram project monitoring organisation would be set up for speedy completion of the project. Naidu flayed the previous Congress government for failing to take up the Polavaram project and the rehabilitation works are also pending for the past one decade.

He said that the TDP government has been taking initiative to rehabilitate 2.25 lakh population under Polavaram project.The Chief Minister said that Amaravati capital foundation would be celebrated in a festive atmosphere with the participation of people. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted his invitation to lay foundation for capital.

The foundation would be laid at 12.45 pm the best muhurtam on Vijayadasami Day.He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Japan state minister Yusuki Takadi,

Singapore minister for trade and industry Eswaran would attend the programme. He said that the capital foundation programme would be conducted in a simple manner to prevent unnecessary expenditure.

At the same time, the Chief Minister stressed the need to market the new State to attract foreign investments. He said that the Singapore and Japan countries came forward to develop the capital.
