This comes in the wake of growing unrest in various campuses and the alarming rise in the number of suicides by students who were victims of various forms of ragging.
A star-studded event, the Crescent Cricket Cup was unveiled in Hyderabad late Sunday night. Present on the occasion and those who will spearhead the campaign included actors Srikanth, Tarun, Nikhil, Aksha, Archana, Nira Arora, Tejaswi Madivada and Andhra Pradesh Cinematography Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy. “This will be larger than the first edition that was held in Anantapur, the proceeds from which went to empower women in self-employment vocations.
This time around, we are out to educate students on the adverse effects of ragging,” said K MD S Shafi, Chairman, Crescent Cricket Cup Organising Committee. The match will be played between Srikanth XI and Tarun XI in Vijayawada on December 13. The proceeds of the match will be used to aid physically-challenged athletes.
