Goddess Durga glows in golden armour. The 10-day Dasara festivities began on a grand note at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri in the city on Tuesday. The festivities got off at the temple with Suprabhata Seva at 3 am.

The presiding deity blessed devotees in the incarnation of Swarna Kavachalankruta Kanaka Durga Devi on the first day of Devi Navaratri festival. The number of devotees visited the temple on the first day of the annual fete was comparatively less this year.
The specially erected queue lines for the temple festival looked empty till afternoon though the Devasthanam authorities allowed darshan of the Goddess from 9 am.
Elaborate arrangements were made at bathing ghats of the Krishna river to meet the devotee rush during the annual festival. The crowd at the bathing ghats was sparse. The devotees had a comfortable darshan of the Goddess.
