Visakhapatnam: Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu said here on Monday that serious discussions were being held on the special status issue at the highest level in the Central government and there was no need for making a hue and cry over the issue,

while attacking AP Opposition leader and founder president of YSRCP, Y S Jagan, who is on an indefinite fast, and the State unit of the Congress party.

The Union Minister after launching the airport beautification programme being taken up at a cost of Rs 3.22 crore, said the State will get help and succour from the Centre.

“We have a dynamic Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who can ask the Central government about the State’s requirement and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will definitely oblige him,’’ Venkaiah Naidu said.

Venkaiah said the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister were working for the good of the State and he failed to understand why the Opposition parties were making it an issue.

Taking further dig at the Opposition parties, he said they were obstructing the development of the State at a time when it was keen on competing with the neighbouring States.

He stated that YS Jagan’s indefinite fast and dharnas by other political parties were not directed at the development but for mere survival.
