The official mobile application of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam in the run-up to Dasara festival has become an instant hit among the devotees. District Collector Babu A released the official mobile application developed by the Elite ProCon Solutions Private Limited with an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 lakh on October 5.

Disclosing the functions of the app to The Hans India on Thursday, Temple Executive Officer Ch Narsing Rao said that as many as 1,000 Android phone users downloaded the app within span of ten days from Google Play Store by typing Sri Kanaka Durga Temple Vijayawada. This was the first time the temple has developed the app as part of promoting devotee friendly measures.

The mobile app has icons titled Services, Gallery, Events, Dasara, Alankaras, News, Information, Sevas, Darshanam, Route, Ghats, Management, SMS at Emergency, Cultural Programmes and Visitor Statistics that provide details for the devotees. It also shows a toll free number 18001217749.

The devotees can also get information on timings of Choultry, 'annadan' and availability of darshan tickets for the festival on the app. Out of the total 69 reviewers, 53 have rated the app excellent and outstanding and its average rating is 4.7 out of 5 stars, he added.

In his review, Atluri Hari said: ``The app is super. But it would be better if the temple authorities update the current status of the seva and darshan tickets to provide hassle free darshan for the devotees. ``The info in the app is very useful. Focus should be laid on improving the information which is more important than quality,'' said Mahesh Dama.

Hari Vamsi Valluru said: ``Thanks to the initiative taken by the Temple EO Ch Narsing Rao for his good effort in developing the app to improve devotee friendly measures during the Dasara festivity.

Sree Kudithipudi said: ``The app is so ausicipious. I think it is great initiative by the temple authorities to get the detailed info of the service being offered to the devotees in a smart way’’.
