A large number of students took part in a `2k Run’ organised by the Andhra Pradesh Private Schools Association in the town on Friday for the success of the foundation laying ceremony of capital Amaravati.

Minister for Agriculture Prathipati Pulla Rao and his wife Venkata Kumari participated in the event as chief guests. The 2k Run which was flagged off at NRT Centre, concluded at the same place after covering the major junctions in the town.

Municipal Chairperson Ganji Chenchukumari, Municipal Commissioner Kanaka Rao and members of the Private Schools Association also took part in the run. A `2k Walk’ was held under the aegis of AP Private Schools Association at Narasaraopet on Friday to mobilise people’s support for the construction of a world class capital Amaravati.

Deputy Education Officer PVJ Rama Rao flagged off the walk at the municipal high school for boys. About 500 students from several schools in the town took part in the walk which concluded at the RTC bus stand. Private Schools Association leaders Kolli Brahmaiah, Chirumamilla Ramu and school teachers led the 2k walk.
