AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Monday laid the foundation stone for the new terminal at Gannavaram Airport in Vijayawada amidst the presence of Union Urban Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister Sujana Chowdary and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi.
The new air terminal building has been proposed to be constructed at a cost of Rs 150 crore that will include passenger-friendly facilities like car parking, baggage handling system, fire alarm system, central air-conditioning, flight information display system, inclined arrival baggage claim carousels, check-in-counters , CCTV for surveillance,etc and will be capable of handling 500 passengers at a time with an area of 9,520 sq m.
