Sacred water and soil for Amaravati

Large number of people took part in a 2K-Run organized in support of the new capital-Amaravati foundation ceremony. Hundreds of youth wearing “Mana Rajadhani Amaravati caps got together at Pushkar Ghat in Rajahmundry which was decorated with balloons and flags on Monday morning .

East Godavari district collector H Arun Kumar, Rajahmundry mayor, Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai, Rajahmundry city MLA Dr Akula Satyannarayana , Sub-Collector V Vijayarama Raju and students from different colleges reached the Pushkar ghat.

Dr Akula satyannarayana flagged off the 2k Run along with the Collector and Mayor. Urban SP S. Harikrishna and Additional SP Siddha Reddy along with their Armed Reserve Forces did also take part in the run.

Adikavi Nannaya University students and College students from Government Arts College, Sri Kandukuri Theistic College, Aditya Degree College, Rajamahendri Degree College for Women, Sri Kandukuri Rajyalakshmi College for Women and GIET Engineering College and all the prominent schools participated in the 2K Run.

The run culminated at government Arts College grounds where trucks- headed by “Garuda Vahana”- from different parts of the district which collected sacred water of river Godavari, Sabari, Pranahitha and rivulets were ready. The MLA and other guests flagged off the vehicles which then left for Amaravathi.

Later, addressing a public meeting, the Collector Mr. Arun Kumar said that by collecting the soil and sacred water from each district, the government wants to see the participation of each citizen in foundation laying ceremony. Dr. Akula Satyanarayana, MLA in his address made it clear that the success of any mega event by the government is possible only with the involvement of the people.
