Artists come together to form AVAS
Artists come together to form AVAS. In a bid to encourage the artists with specialised talent in craft, a few artists from the State have come forward to form ‘Amaravathi Visual Art Society’(AVAS), which is launched by the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the State, Mandali Buddha Prasad.
In a bid to encourage the artists with specialised talent in craft, a few artists from the State have come forward to form ‘Amaravathi Visual Art Society’(AVAS), which is launched by the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the State, Mandali Buddha Prasad. They have organised an art exhibition called 'A Journey Within' to commemorate the event of World Artist Day comprising of paintings, murals and sculptures at the Aakriti Art Gallery, in the city on Sunday.
Speaking about the Visual Art Society, its president K Mrutyunjaya Rao said that they have initiated the society to enable the talented artists to expose their art to the public under a platform. There are members in it from all over Andhra Pradesh and is keen on holding regular activities that will promote art and paintings.

The Art Society has decided to organize a minimum of four to five exhibitions per year in places like Vijayawada, Vishakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and other potential places of the State, he said. Besides, the art expo set up at the gallery witnessed big crowds who are all found admiring the contemporary, up-beat art in the form of paintings, sculptures and figurines. There were 12 artists participating in the event with more than 60 products displayed.
They include mixed media, clay modeling, Indian murals and many more. On the occasion, senior artist D Govindaraju was felicitated by the Visual Art Society at the Cultural Center. The expo will be held till Tuesday. Honorary president of the AVAS M Sivananda Kumar, Secretary Srinivas Padakandla, CEO of Art gallery E Sivanagi Reddy, and others were present at the event.
